Working on that drop cloth project........

I have had this bedspread pinned on my Pinterest board for several years, I LOVE it. It's made from a cotton/linen blend and costs $625.00!! It is absolutely gorgeous, but there is no way I could spend that kind of money on a bedspread. My grandchildren gravitate to our big king size bed to watch tv or play with Barbie dolls, and I would never discourage that. Besides, I would never spend that much on a bed linens!

I have been contemplating making it, for a long time. All I keep thinking about is all those gathers and how much fabric I would need. 16 yards altogether, so I started shopping for a linen fabric, or a cotton/linen blend. Still the cost was way more than I needed to spend. But I wanted that look, even the color was perfect. You know what I'm going to say now don't you?!

Yup, the only "fabric" that could give me that look with that color was a drop cloth. That made me rethink it for awhile longer because gathering thick fabric like that would be even harder.

I started shopping for a ready-made bedspread again, but I couldn't get this one out of my head.

So..........I am making this bedspread using drop cloths. I've never made one of these spreads before so I figured if I screw it up I'm not out that much money or I could cut the fabric up and make a bunch of pillows:)

Hopefully I will have fabulous pictures to share of my beautiful new linen-look skirted bedspread. Fingers (and toes) crossed!

  1. I cannot wait to see how it turns out, Rhonda! On that note, this is a cake week for me with a wedding on Saturday. I hope to have pictures, as well!
