Our new outdoor living space

So I'm finally ready to share our outdoor living space! We had the cement poured at the end of July but due to circumstances beyond our control, that's as far as we got. We still have lots of work to do to the surrounding landscape but that will be a project for next summer, we always have to have projects to do.....sigh.

Now we needed furniture for the patio, and our plan was to shop at the end of the season so we could get a better buy, but we didn't plan on shopping so late in the season. By the time we finally found the time to go ( in September!!) we didn't have a whole lot to choose from. And we did not want to wait until next August to have furniture on the patio. So we kept looking until we found something we both liked, and it was 50% off.

(Now, just so you know..........in MY dreams there would be a beautiful vintage, chippy painted metal glider sitting out on my new patio filled with soft fluffy pillows and a nice cotton throw, but my husband lives here too and this was his dream, a brand new set of patio furniture fresh out of the box. Soooooooo, what are ya going to do?!? (MY dream would have cost him a lot less:) Oh well. I did get my fireplace:)

After we got the furniture in place we decided we needed a rug to ground the set, so we shopped at the big box stores, but I always worry about quality if something's too inexpensive, I question the durability (you get what you pay for) so I went online and found a rug for 60% off and it ended up costing the same as the ones at the big box stores. Hopefully the quality will be better, we shall see:) the rug arrived last week but the weather has been so nasty that I didn't get it put out until yesterday.

Long story short, I didn't want to post pictures until everything was put in place. We still have to add steps on the south side and we want to add some sort of privacy around the area, but I'm just glad we can finally enjoy what we have been waiting for, for so long.

And that one project that we needed to complete before the weather turned cold was our outdoor fireplace. Now all of our major outdoor jobs are done for this year and we can enjoy what's left of my favorite time of year......by the fire, with a glass of wine:)

Note: The jar candles that I made earlier in the summer are finally being used:)

  1. It looks wonderful, Rhonda, and so comfortable. I guess we do have to consider what our hubby's want occasionally! Can't wait till we can sit out and enjoy our patio, too. I have to say, I'm a little jealous of the fireplace! : )

    1. Thank you JoAnne, I can't believe we are finally at this point, and we have gotten to enjoy it for a bit before the weather gets too cold. As far as the fireplace goes, it has always been a dream of mine, and after having an outdoor firepit completely turn to rust we decided this would be one thing that will be indestructible. We bought it online under outdoor fireplaces and you just put it together in an hour:) We are home bodies and we will have lots of fun with family on this patio!
