My passion for old linen & lace

I have always loved antique lace and I would buy it whenever I could. I never did anything with it, I just couldn't resist, so I had quite a stash. But I have found the perfect use for it all and others must love it too, because my pillows sell right away.

I never, ever paid much for any of it, the most I paid for an antique lace table cloth was $12.00, so it was an affordable obsession and I knew someday I would find a use for my beautiful vintage and antique linens and lace.

I love the patina of old linens, and the workmanship of the antique lace amazes me, such patience, so intricate.

I didn't have a whole lot of notice for the upcoming Country Market, but I did get a few pillows made and another lampshade that I made using old doilies, I will share that later:)

I will have things from Alter'd Relics at the show too, things that I have brought to the shop that haven't sold yet.

You just never know what people want, but I finally sold my little French chair last week!

  3. I went to a market a few weeks ago and bought a hat with antique lace added on from an old wedding dress. Maybe you could use up some more lace that way. Very nice pillows by the way.

    1. Thanks Julie! I have my mother-in-laws wedding gown, it is made of Chantilly lace and is gorgeous. It's too late for my daughters but I may make a ring bearer's pillow for our niece with it. I have also seen christening gowns made from old wedding gowns. What a keepsake that would be and a good use for our wedding gowns that sit in a chest anyway!

  4. So pretty! I collect vintage lace and doiles too! I have a huge stash of lace doilies and things and have sewn them on fabric purses. I have also sewn them end to end for table runners. Your pillows are so pretty with your embellishments.

  5. I love your ideas for using old lace. I recently inherited some old lace tablecloths from my mother that I haven't done anything with . . now you've inspired me to get busy and make something pretty out of them. Thanks for sharing! Cheryl

    1. I'm always excited to inspire:) The pillow on the far right was made from a beautiful old tablecloth, love the patina of it and I have gotten several pillows from that table cloth and still have some left! Thank you for visiting and leaving a comment:)
