When it rains, it pours

It's been a hard last couple of days, we are back in our home state to be with my father-in-law, who just two days ago was diagnosed with terminal cancer. So now it's our duty to just keep him comfortable during the time he has left.

"Rusty" is the name he goes by, a nickname that was given to him very early on, because of his think, wavy, fiery red hair, that he's had up until a few years ago. Now it's a strawberry blond:)

He's always been a pretty laid back man, but his hair color lived up to the reputation if he got really upset, his temper could be fiery, but not very often.

It's going to be hard to leave him behind and go home, because we do have to head back home soon. We are leaving him in many very capable, loving hands, the nursing staff all love him and spoil him. But.....we will worry none the less, because we can't be there with him until the end. He's quite a stoic man, not wanting to bother anyone. I worry that it will get in the way of his comfort level. We just want him to be comfortable, that's all we ask.

I wanted to thank you for your prayers, messages of concern, they help us get through a difficult situation. Please keep Pappy in your prayers, that his transition be an easy one.

P.S. I got word today that I lost my wonderful Aunt "Boots." She passed in her sleep.

Seems when it rains, it pours.

  1. Lots of hugs and prayers to you and your family, dear friend, to get you through this "storm". <3

    1. Thank you Nancy, I'll take all the hugs I can get:)
