Every morning during the month of July I had my morning cup of coffee in the company of Chip & Joanna:) But now, I must wait to enjoy my morning brew without the company of my new favorite people, at least until the next season starts.
If you have no idea who I'm talking about, then you may not have been aware of this great new series on HGTV called "Fixer Upper!" Actually, I didn't discover it until the end of the first season. A friend was so excited about it and asked me if I'd seen it, because she knew I'd love Joanna's decorating style. I hadn't heard of it and when I did check it out I was instantly hooked!!
I set my DVR so I could see every single episode, and every single morning I'd get up, make my coffee and lose myself in Joanna's beautiful design & decor. She has the vision, he makes it happen. Between the two, they are realtor, contractor, designer and decorator all in one cute little package. I'd watch how they would take their clients to three different properties in Waco, Texas, and go through the design possibilities in each. And what I loved the most was one of those three properties would be what seemed to the clients as a dilapidated, run down, near condemnation of a house. But Joanna and Chip go through the home with them and show them how they will transform it in to a thing of beauty, and they most certainly do!
Not only are you amazed at the beautiful work they do, but you will fall in love with them. They are a down to earth couple who, themselves, are renovating a home on 40 acres of land. The house is one that my dreams are made of. Casual, farmhouse style with an industrial touch. I love it. They have four children, chickens, goats, and a couple of dogs. Their chemistry is so cute together, he is hilarious, and her, with her more serious, get down to business attitude is so fun to watch!
Their beautiful home:
You can follow her on her blog themagnoliamom.blogspot.com
And she even has a retail shop, from which I already made a couple of purchases:)
I can relate to her in that I can see the beauty in these run down, falling apart homes. Looking past what it is and visualizing what it once was and bringing it back to life.
They are living my dream of living in a fixer upper on a few acres of land and fixing other homes as well.
I love this show!
