Decorating my Master bedroom with flea market finds!

In my quest to prove to you that I indeed do decorate on a budget, I will continue where I left off. I gave you an itemized rundown of the cost of everything in our guest bedroom, so now we need to move on to the master bedroom.

In case you aren't a follower of mine and are just visiting, I am finally getting around to proving why I write this blog........that you can decorate on a budget! I have had my blog for several years now, and I used it to keep in touch with family, until I discovered that I love writing in it. And since it was just my  family and friends that were reading it, I never felt the need to prove it, they all know I'm a tight wad!!! Now that I am getting serious about this blog stuff, I need to show my new readers that most of my things come from flea markets, second hand shops and second hand furniture stores. I also have bartered for some of my bigger pieces that I have in my home. Great way to get big ticket items!

On to the master bedroom......................

I got my beautiful 4-poster king bed by bartering! Yup, I met a young man at one of the shops were we both used to sell our furniture and painted goods to. He used to make all of the chests for me that I painted and sold to a local shop. He needed a painted floor cloth, I needed a 4-poster king size bed! He thought I was getting the raw end of the deal so he threw in the little side table there to your left!

8' x 10' floor cloth that I painted for him

This armoire was purchased at a cute little primitive shop in Shipshewana, Indiana. This one set me back a bit but I have had it for years. It houses my clothes and a TV
The chests were purchased at various places and the wall hangings are family heirlooms

This corner cupboard was one that a friend was selling, made by the same young man who made my chests and my bed.

The chest in the corner was a flea market find and the mirror, I will talk more on that later, was one that my husband and I made from one piece of architectural salvage. The chest at the end of the bed was one I got from an antique store, I needed it to set up a little higher so I added feet.

This dresser was bought at the flea market as well, the chairs (there are two matching ones) I found at a second hand shop and made the slip covers myself.

The table in the middle was bought at a second hand furniture store

My cute lamp I found at a garage sale and the tiny table was given to me by a friend.

I bought the bedding from eBay (Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic line)
Curtains from Ikea ($15.00 per PAIR)
The bed skirt I made myself.
All pillows were made my me.

4-poster King size bed...............$50.00 (the cost of an 8' x 10' piece of canvas to make the floorcloth)
Tall armoire..................$250.00
Corner cupboard......................250.00
Chest at the end of the bed.............100.00 including feet
Small dresser in corner.............40.00
Mirror above dresser.............20.00 (cost of mirror to put in frame that we made)
Taller dresser...............125.00
Table between chairs.....................125.00
2 wing back chairs................120.00 plus fabric for slip covers ($80.00) plus I made other things from that fabric!
My little lamp.............1.00
The little table........0.00
Total cost of this room..............$1,161

I furnished the whole room for less than what a 4-poster King size bed would have cost me!

To be continued................
