I made a quick trip to the flea market this morning to see if I could find a bed that we had seen on Saturday, it would have been so cute for my grand daughter, but the vendor selling the bed was not there. So I decided to give a quick look around in case I found something I couldn't live without. Good thing I did because I ran across this most beautiful frame leaning up against a truck, everyone was packing up for the day and this was just waiting to be packed away. It was so big though and didn't know what I would do with it. But when I asked the vendor what he was asking for it and he said, "It's yours for $30.00, I don't want to pack it up again."
You remember I told you I had a passion for old frames, well this one goes above and beyond! It is huge, but gorgeous and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet but I couldn't pass it up. The detail is amazing and although it has a few bad spots, it is in excellent condition for it's age, I had to bring it home!
This is as far as I could go with it, it is very fragile and the littlest bump will knock off a little more of the intricate decoration around the frame.
I am going to paint it antique white to match the walls, I want it to be visible but not overwhelming in the space where I will hang it. If I leave it the way it is, it will be just too dark and heavy looking. Also, the paint will keep the design from chipping any further. This gorgeous frame measures 55 inches wide by 46 inches high, so it's an impressive piece. The painting that was in it was damaged on one side but I will salvage it so it an be hung on it's own or I will find another frame for it. Now I have to think of something to put in this frame, but for now I will just hang it up the way it is.
