Stretching your decorating dollar!

Now that Thanksgiving is here and we will be busy cooking for the next two days, I want to leave you with a few tips to help you stretch your decorating dollar! When buying pumpkins to decorate with Halloween and Thanksgiving I buy two large pumpkins and a couple of pie baking pumpkins. For Halloween I carve my faces out and set them on the front porch with my candles in them. For Thanksgiving, I use the same pumpkins and turn the face around so you can no longer see the gruely things, I add my pie pumpkins and make a nice arrangement on my front porch. When Thanksgiving is over I throw the large Halloween/Thanksgiving pumpkins away and bake my small pie pumpkins, scrape the pumpkin out and freeze it to use for my next Thanksgiving pies!! If you have never had pumpkin bars made with real pumpkin you have never tasted anything more delicious! I also want to add a word of caution when setting real pumpkins and guords on your table for decoration, set something underneath them to protect your your wooden table top. Just in case your pumpkins start getting soft before you notice. I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your family time!
