how to fix a cane seat if you know nothing about caning!

In my last post I showed a picture of a chair that I had repaired and refinished and I had a couple of people mention to me that they had old chairs that had a cane seat but the caning was bad or gone. I will show you a solution that I used on a chair that my belonged in our family. The chair itself was beautiful but the caning had also gone bad. I refinished the chair and then purchased a "leather" look seat that just fit the over the hole. Used decorative upholstery tacks and fastened it to the seat. I then stained and varnished it and now I have a beautiful chair! I got the leather piece from a store here in Ohio but if you go to a renovation website you can probably find one there. I hope this helps!
